Hypnosis for Surgery

Surgery

Research has shown that hypnosis prior to surgery results in overall reduced pain and reduced recovery time. The attached article from The Globe and Mail (August 30, 2007) summarizes the results of a study where 200 women scheduled for surgery for breast cancer were randomly selected to receive a short hypnosis session before surgery.  As compared to those women who did not get hypnosis the findings included:

  • less anesthetic needed
  • lower levels of pain
  • less nausea
  • less fatigue
  • less emotional distress
  • less overall discomfort
  • less recovery time

This was also our special for the month of July 2010.

So if you have surgery coming up, consider hypnosis to reduce your pain and post-op side effects.
